Shedding for the Wedding

The Creators and producers of “THE BIGGEST LOSER” have created a new reality competition series called “SHEDDING FOR THE WEDDING”. The CW has hired Sara Rue, a Jenny Craig spokesperson who has lost 50 pounds on their plan, as the shows host. The theme of the show pits 10 overweight engaged couples in a weekly competition to see who can shed the most pounds. Like Loser, the contestants will all live together during the three-month competition and each episode will feature a physical challenge. But rather than winning cash, cars and one-pound advantages, the prizes are all wedding-related ( invitations, cake and rings) with the last couple standing scoring the ultimate reward, a paid-for “Fantasy of a Lifetime Wedding”.

The couples will work with trainers, nutritionists and wedding planners throughout their time in the competition. At the end of each episode the couples will step on the scale together and the couple who has lost the least amount of combined weight that week will be eliminated. Each week they will face a physical challenge competition for one item of their wedding plan, for example one week may be their wedding cake and the next week their rings. The challenges will be wedding related such a timed race carrying a four tier wedding cake. Whatever they win in the weekly competition will be theirs to keep. The Show, presented by Raquel Productions Inc. with Dave Broome as executive producer, will premiere on Wednesday February 23, 2011 at 9:00 pm CST.
